ACTION 24 Guarantee a maintainable, operable,
sustainable network
There is a range of stakeholders within Société du Grand Paris
who are involved in making the future network operable,
accessible to all and maintainable. This is achieved through
a variety of approaches, such as the safety of guided transport
systems, the integration of maintenance and operation into
the design, the setting up of agreements with those involved
in the Grand Paris Express, and consultation with future
passengers.
Since the earliest phases of the project, Société du Grand
Paris has asked representatives of the future operations
and maintenance providers to express their needs, and more
broadly has involved Île-de-France Mobilités and RATP
Infrastructures in designing the Grand Paris Express.
That led to the development of the Maintenance
Requirements Programme (MRP), which now serves as
a joint repository for network maintenance management.
In 2019, a roadmap was drawn up for the contracts to be
signed with the Grand Paris Express operating and
maintenance companies. It will be used to prepare for and
support the transfer of operational management from Société
du Grand Paris to Île-de-France Mobilités and RATP
Infrastructures once the lines are completed.
The accessibility of the future Grand Paris Express stations
and trains is also a key concern of Société du Grand Paris,
whose aim is for the new metro to be 100% accessible to
people with reduced mobility. Since 2014, it has therefore
been committed to an approach that closely involves people
with disabilities in the design of the metro. In 2016, this
approach was formalised by the signing of a consultation
protocol with associations representing all types of disabilities.
The signage that will be installed in stations is also an
important factor to accessibility. Since September 2019,
tests led by the Epsylon laboratory at the University of
Montpellier, which specialises in cognitive sciences, have
been carried out with future users of the Grand Paris Express
on the graphic design and signage. The aim of this testing is
to check that the signage and passenger information systems
are fully understood so that passenger flows in stations are
managed effectively and journeys are pleasant for users.
