A material library to prioritise
sustainable materials Société du Grand Paris is prioritising the
use of sustainable and maintainable materials
for the development of stations. A new tool,
the Grand Paris Express material library,
was launched in 2020. Its purpose is to
catalogue the materials specified in the
station development contracts and ensure
full compliance with the design and
construction plans.
This tool will be made available in 2021 to
Société du Grand Paris s project managers
and future operating partners, and will help
guide development choices. A physical
material library at the Fabrique du Métro is
also in the pipeline.
Successful sharing of
Tandems projects with
elected officials and
many technical advances All artwork projects are discussed and shared
with the mayors of the local areas affected.
Since the end of 2020, around fifteen
meetings have been held with elected
officials to approve the projects and propose
ways in which the local areas can be
involved in creating the works of art before
the stations open.
The Tandems artistic programme has
been developed further from a technical
perspective, with 20 detailed studies being
submitted to incorporate the creation of
the artworks into the station development
contracts.
This will ensure that costs associated
with creating the artworks are optimised
and that interfaces are fully considered.
Work has also been undertaken with
Île-de-France Mobilités to ensure future
maintenance and conservation. To sustain
and consolidate this momentum after an
initial development and definition phase
that took the form of a blueprint for cultural
initiatives, Société du Grand Paris created
an artistic committee for the launch of
the operational phase in September 2020.
The committee is made up of seven cultural
experts who will be consulted throughout the
planning, design and implementation stages
of cultural initiatives.
