Increased amounts of spoil
shipped by river New managers of disposal sites accessible
by river have signed partnership agreements
with Société du Grand Paris, opening up
new possibilities for shipping spoil by river.
Incentives for shipping spoil by river have
been set out in the tender documents
for Lines 15 West and 15 East.
Alternative means of transport for removing spoil
Société du Grand Paris has set a target of removing at least 15% of the total volume of spoil
by river or rail. Specific clauses relating to this are included in its civil engineering contracts.
Six river platforms, four of which are already operational, have been built to load barges directly
at the worksites or nearby. This is in addition to the network of existing platforms and quays.
Industrial sidings have also been built on the Bry Villiers Champigny station site on Line 15
South for removal by rail. All of this is made possible by the availability of a number of disposal
sites that are directly accessible by river or rail.
