ACTION 1 Prevent serious accidents on and around
worksites as the programme manager
As programme manager, Société du Grand Paris is
responsible for building the 68 stations and 200 km
of metro lines of the Grand Paris Express. Its role,
in partnership with the various parties involved,
is to ensure the safety and security of all its worksites.
Société du Grand Paris is committed to implementing
comprehensive, consistent and adaptable safety measures
at its worksites. These measures must be managed both
inside and outside the rights-of-way. To achieve this, it puts
in place human, technical and organisational resources to
prevent and protect against accidents.
Safety management is based on a shared doctrine applied
by everyone involved throughout the construction chain.
For all worksites programme managed by Société du
Grand Paris, a safety charter and guidelines are included in
the contractual obligations of contractors, project managers
and safety and health protection coordinators.
Shared safety framework
Société du Grand Paris meets regularly with its many external
partners (fire service, police, emergency services, inspection
and prevention organisations, etc.) to ensure that they are fully
familiar with the worksites and to share best practices and
provide feedback in a fully transparent way.
Société du Grand Paris, project managers, contractors
and health and safety coordinators work together with the
emergency services to continuously improve the emergency
response. Emergency management takes the form of
emergency response plans drawn up by the site management
companies in coordination with the various stakeholders to
ensure that all contractors involved in the project are included.
These plans are tested with the emergency services during
regular exercises organised on each of the worksites.
The goal is to provide everyone with all the information
required to guarantee the effectiveness of the response.
An emergency and crisis management plan, rolled out
in 2019, is designed to anticipate incidents that could affect
the smooth running of the project and thus ensure a rapid,
targeted response.
The risks identified relate to the safety of people, asset
integrity, the physical preservation of the worksite
environment, the company s critical processes, and
the reputation and legacy of Société du Grand Paris.
Access to the worksites is controlled and monitored
(authorisations, training, appropriate equipment, access
credentials, etc.), both for workers and visitors.
The safety visits by Société du Grand Paris worksite safety
managers or those carried out by the health and safety
coordinators, together with the annual safety audit campaigns
carried out since 2020, provide management tools and
qualitative indicators on site safety and improve knowledge
sharing. The safety measures and management processes
implemented at each worksite are audited and provide
the teams on site with practical tools for improving worksite
safety.
