Better characterisation of spoil The process of structuring the spoil recycling
chain continued in 2020 through technical
cooperation with the industrial platforms
that responded to the call for expressions
of interest. Further studies improved the
characterisation of spoil and identified
possible uses based on its chemical and
mechanical properties, to meet the needs of
the construction industry in the Île-de-France
region.
Recycling of deconstructed
concrete Société du Grand Paris is putting all its
weight behind encouraging other players in
the construction industry to start recycling
concrete. It has identified a strong candidate
for recycling in Gennevilliers, where a block
of flats was demolished to prepare for the
arrival of the Grand Paris Express. In 2020,
it took samples and analysed the various
types of concrete used in the building
to assess the potential for its recycling and
identify opportunities for its reuse.
Today, 99% of concrete can be recycled
and reused, mainly for road construction.
