A group dedicated to the project
INTRODUCTION
Société du Grand Paris is a public agency created by
the French government in June 2010. Its mission is to
design, finance and oversee the construction of the
Grand Paris Express, to acquire the rolling stock for its
future lines and to contribute to the modernisation of
the existing Paris network. Following extensive
consultation with Île-de-France residents, the Grand
Paris Express lines were successively declared to be
of public utility between 2014 and 2017.
Société du Grand Paris works under the authority of
the French government through three oversight
ministries: Ecological Transition; Economy, Finance
and the Recovery; and Territorial Cohesion and
Relations with Local Authorities. Its roadmap is set
by the government. The governance of Société
du Grand Paris is structured around three bodies:
a Supervisory Board made up of representatives
from the French government and local authorities
in the Île-de-France region;
a three-member Management Board that manages
Société du Grand Paris;
a Strategy Committee made up of representatives
of the municipalities and public territorial
establishments affected by the Grand Paris Express.
This committee also includes members of
parliament and representatives of consular chambers
and professional and trade union organisations.
