A new urban development
project in Cachan On 15 January 2021, Société du Grand
Paris and the town of Cachan launched the
consultation process for the development
of the eco-district around the Arcueil
Cachan Grand Paris Express station.
The project, consisting of six buildings
including one overlooking the station,
is ambitious in terms of its social and
environmental requirements. The buildings
will be designed on the principles of
reversibility and scalability to anticipate
and facilitate possible changes in future use.
They must also be exemplary in terms of
the environment and have a limited carbon
footprint (construction using bio-based
materials, planting to encourage cool islands
and re-establish a natural water cycle in
the eco-district, development of active
mobility through the project, etc.).
The project will be awarded to a group of
operators and designers at the end of 2021.
Exceptional potential for
urban renewal In 2020/21, Société du Grand Paris
identified sites that are strong candidates
for repurposing land for housing, retail space
and businesses. It identified approximately
1 million square metres of land it currently has
for its worksites that it could use over time
to participate in urban development projects
with local stakeholders and developers.
This potential repurposing will be discussed
with local authorities at the end of 2021.
An evolving approach to
real estate projects The coronavirus pandemic prompted
Société du Grand Paris to re-examine how
we live, work, spend and enjoy ourselves
in the city, and therefore how we build it.
Essential quality-of-life needs were
particularly heightened during this time,
and this has fed into and guided the current
design thinking for Société du Grand Paris s
real estate projects. Particular attention
has been given to the importance of outdoor
spaces and extensions to homes of all kinds,
not only private outdoor spaces (balconies,
gardens, etc.) and shared spaces, but also
threshold spaces (links between private and
public spaces, transitional spaces).
