A message from Jean-François Monteils
Coping with the crisis caused by the global pandemic
and its consequences was a challenge that we have
all had to face in 2020.
Société du Grand Paris also had to overcome three
of its own specific challenges.
The first of these is our young age. In 2017, we had
barely 300 employees. Now, at the end of 2020,
we have more than 800. Following our inflection
point in 2018, when a modern and efficient company
emerged, 2020 was the year in which we
implemented a robust structure, a decision-making
process well suited to the scope of our mission,
and a true corporate culture, essential to our success.
Undergoing these changes at a time when working
conditions are disrupted, when the job market is
suffering the effects of the pandemic, and when
new recruits are having to find their feet in their new
working environment mainly through a screen,
was a significant additional challenge.
The second challenge stems from our unique role
as an interface. Managing a project as complex as
the Grand Paris Express means constantly ensuring
that there are linkages and compatibility between
engineering and local authorities, between
technical constraints and the law, between political
requirements and geotechnical realities, between
the efficiency of worksites and the acceptability
of their work, and between individual demands
and public interest. Nor should we forget the
interconnection between the various players
